Happy Australia Day

I missed wishing everybody a merry Christmas and a Happy New Year and then there were the terrible floods which affected so many people so it has been a long time since I've posted. Derick's family live in Emerald but luckily are far enough out of town to not be affected. We had planned to spend a couple of weeks with them but unfortunately we couldn't get there. We were also lucky where we live in Brisbane to not be affected by the flood. I can only imagine what those people have been through and are still experiencing. Having not been directly affected the whole thing seems very surreal. I must say today especially I feel very proud to be an Australian.

We have had a few additions to the family over the last week. Two new chickens which will hopefully lay eggs.

And some guinea pigs which I have been promising the kids for ages. These two girls are sisters and about 7 weeks old. So far they have been absolutely smothered by the kids. Chocolate has been sitting with me while I type this post.

Our house is turning into a menagerie. We now have about 25 pets if you count all the fish that have been hatching in our pond.
